Mobile App for Farmers

Mobile app integrates knowlege to aid farmers in developing countries

Project Lead: Dr. Tomer Malchi

The Agricultural Innovation and Technology Center (AITEC farms), located in Dodoma, is a research farm operated by CultivAid and Don Bosco Technical Institute, in partnership with Water 4 Mercy. The farm pursues agricultural research that unifies knowledge from academic institutions, research centers, NGOs, the private sector, and government agencies. The AITEC is a knowledge hub that serves as a center for trainings and promotes local knowledge and capacity building.

Our partner CultivAid, in coordination with the Global FEWture Alliance, is developing an app that serves as a working tool for Tanzanian farmers and program members. The new app transfers the knowledge gained in 10 years of working on global agricultural projects into a valid working tool to accommodate future activities of the organization and its partners.

The mobile app will contain features of market linkage, knowledge transfer, and farm management. It will significantly improve the livelihoods of farmers, increase productivity, and boost food security.

Project objectives:

  • Develop a mobile app for farmers, extension workers, and CultivAid’s staff
  • Raise funds for further development and implementation of the app in developing countries
  • Incorporate use of the app into all of CultivAid's projects

Fulfills Global FEWture Alliance Objectives:
