Eliezer Mwakalapa

Dr. Eliezer B. Mwakalapa is an Acting Principal College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (CoAST) of Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST). He is a Lecturer and Researcher at the Department of Natural Sciences at Mbeya University of Science and Technology working on ecotoxicology, environmental and public health, food safety, environmental contaminant exposure and assessment, Marine ecology and Aquaculture development. 

Dr. Mwakalapa received his Bachelor of Science in Aquaculture from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), in Tanzania in 2009 and a Master of Science in Marine Sciences under the SIDA SAREC scholarship at the Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) in Tanzania in 2013. Dr. Mwakalapa received his PhD in Veterinary Sciences at the Veterinary School - Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) in Oslo, Norway 2019. He was invited as a guest researcher with Borga - Ecotox group at the Aquatic Biology and Toxicology, Department of Biosciences at the University of Oslo in Oslo, Norway from September 2019 to December 2019.

Research Interests: Ecotoxicology; environmental health; public health; food safety; marine ecology and aquaculture

Areas of Expertise: Sources, fate, mechanisms and processes for contaminant distribution; accumulation and effects in the environment; associated organisms and food safety; aquatic conservation; aquatic health and aquaculture development
