Dr. Bim Prasad Shrestha is a Professor at the Kathmandu University School of Engineering. He has also been serving as the Affiliate Professor at Department of Bioengineering at University of Washington Seattle since 2021. 

He started his career as a lecturer at Tribhuvan University upon completion of Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from Kerala Agricultural University India under USAID Scholarship. Subsequently, his interest grew in agricultural mechanization, life science and environment conservation, and biosystems engineering.

Dr. Shrestha completed his Masters in agricultural mechanization at University of Miyazaki in Japan and his PhD from Kagoshima University, Japan in Science of Life Environment and Conservation, majoring Agricultural Engineering. His postdoc at Michigan State University was sponsored under a USDA program in Bio-Systems Engineering.

He is currently working on managing water for climate smart agriculture in South Asia as USDA fellow Washington DC and Michigan State University. Apart from teaching and research, he is actively involved in developing collaboration and linkages with global universities and agencies. He has led projects with the World Bank, KOICA, JICA, JST, JASSO, IFS, DANIDA, EU, US Embassy/Department of State, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Dr. Shrestha is fluent in Nepal Bhasa, Nepali, Hindi, Japanese, and English.

Research Interests: Automation; agriculture and rural development focusing on energy; image processing and spectral analysis; sanitation; water management for climate smart agriculture
