Zamila Juma Mohamed is a student pursuing a degree in Agribusiness Management and Technology at Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST). Her passion lies in integrating innovative solutions to enhance sustainable agricultural practices. She aims to contribute to the agricultural sector in Tanzania by focusing on the interconnections between water, energy, and food systems. The UMD Global Stewards Undergraduate Program offers an opportunity to deepen her understanding of these critical areas. This program will equip her with the knowledge and skills needed to drive sustainable development in agribusiness, ultimately benefiting communities in Tanzania and beyond.
Sijan Sharma Kuinkel is a final-year undergraduate Environmental Engineering student at Kathmandu University, Nepal. She is passionate about addressing environmental challenges through sustainable solutions. With research experience in water quality assessment, wastewater treatment, and green energy, her aim is to contribute to global water, food, and energy sustainability. She plans a career in sustainable resource management, environmental resilience, food security and the energy-water nexus, and believes the Global STEWARDS Undergraduate Program will provide invaluable hands-on experience, interdisciplinary collaboration, and advanced training in the FEW nexus by fostering systems thinking, professional skills, and global networking opportunities.
Sebika Bohara is a 4th year undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Kathmandu University. Her interest lies in sustainable agriculture and understanding climate change effects on crop production, particularly in relation to systems ideas in food-energy-water nexus. She believe that the University of Maryland Global STEWARDS program will equip her with the knowledge and skills to enhance her understanding of food, energy, and water systems, while also preparing her to address real-world challenges and fostering academic growth.

Nicolaus Morisi Kibondo is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness Management and Technology at Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Tanzania. His future career plans include working in sustainable agriculture, food security, and planting trees, where he aims to contribute to innovative solutions that enhance productivity and sustainability in agriculture. He believes that the Global STEWARDS program will provide valuable insights and practical experience in the food-energy-water nexus, helping him to develop the skills necessary to make a significant impact in his local and regional communities.
Neeta Pant is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Kathmandu University, Nepal. Her academic focus lies in sustainable agriculture, with a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship development to drive innovation in agricultural practices. She is particularly interested in creating sustainable farming systems that address challenges within the food-energy-water nexus while empowering local communities through agribusiness opportunities. The Global STEWARDS program aligns perfectly with her aspirations, offering a multidisciplinary platform to enhance her understanding and create impactful solutions. By integrating sustainable practices with entrepreneurial solutions, she aims to promote efficient resource management, improve food security, and foster rural economic growth.
Michael Komba is a senior from Mbeya University of Science And Technology (MUST), Tanzania, majoring in Agribusiness Management and Technology. His personal research interest topic is assessing the challenges of food insecurity and modern ways to increase Agricultural production as means to enhancing food security. His future career plan is to advance his expertise in food insecurity and modern agricultural productivity through Master's and PhD studies. The Global FEWture Alliance Program offers opportunities to connect with global experts, industry leaders, and peers who share his passion for sustainability and agriculture. These connections could lead to mentorship, collaborations, internships, or even career opportunities in his education path.
Kimndala Leteo is a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Agribusiness Management and Technology from Mbeya University of Science and Technology in Tanzania. His research involves the accessibility of agricultural Inputs and its impact on vegetable production. He is working on the characterization of microbial pollutants of irrigation water In Tanzania. His goal for this internship is to gain practical experience in identifying and characterizing microbial contaminants, which is essential for improving water quality and ensuring safe agricultural practices. Through the exposure to real-life research projects, he wants to learn more about environmental impact, microbial ecology, and water quality assessment techniques that for improve farm productivity.
Joshua White Martin is a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology at Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST)- Mbeya, Tanzania. His research interests are on ways to enhance food security through effective means of crop production and sustainable agricultural systems. His future carrier goals are ongoing with Master’s degree on Food and Agricultural Sciences and be a pioneer, researcher and consultant on the food and agricultural sector. He’s truly honored for the opportunity to be among the 2025 Global undergraduates STEWARDS and expect to broaden his understanding on the Food, Energy, Water nexus. He hopes to learn the more sustainable, innovative and yet adaptive technologies that could be used to conserve the FEW resources. He hopes this will contribute to building his research work skills and experimental experience.
Hannah Altberger is a senior Social Data Science major with a concentration in Public Health and a minor in Sustainability Studies at the University of Maryland. She is from Colorado, and is passionate about nature and environmental preservation. Hannah hopes to become an environmental microbiologist to help mitigate air and water pollution. The Global FEWture Alliance program will be an opportunity for her to explore the connections between food, energy, and water and to gain experience in an environmental health lab. She hopes to use what she learns in this program as a foundation for the importance of maintaining balance, accessibility, and preservation of resources.
Emilia Ross is a Junior Environmental Science and Policy student with a concentration in Environmental Economics, at the University of Maryland. She is also pursuing a minor in Business Analytics. She is passionate about using her experience in this field to guarantee all individuals access to essential resources while developing sustainable practices to make this possible. Emilia is excited for this program as a next step with opportunities to connect and collaborate with people all over the world, as well as use research to develop data-driven solutions.
Boluwatife Adetutu is a final-year student studying Environmental Management and Toxicology at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. She is deeply passionate about sustainability and aspires to become a global environmental advocate, focusing on challenges around food, energy, water, and environmental issues. She believes the Global STEWARDS Undergraduate Program will provide her with the knowledge, skills, and global perspective to create sustainable solutions. The opportunity will help her transform her research passion into impactful actions that benefit both her local community and the whole planet.
Bitisha Subedi, a fourth-year agriculture student at Kathmandu University, Nepal, is passionate about sustainable agriculture and resource management. Growing up in Nepal's mid-hill region, she developed a deep connection to agricultural practices. Her academic and practical experiences include grafting tomatoes and brinjal, Biofloc fish farming. She wants to address global challenges in the food-energy-water nexus by developing innovative, sustainable solutions. She imagines a future career in research for sustainable agriculture. Participating in this program will enhance her knowledge, expand her global perspective, and support her mission to drive positive change in the agricultural sector.
Bazizan Malingo is a senior at Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST), pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Agribusiness Management and Technology. He is also enrolled in the MIEH 333 - Water, Food, and Global Public Health course at the University of Maryland. Bazizan was a 2024 Global FEWture Alliance Summer Intern at CultivAid in Dodoma before becoming a member of the 2025 UMD Undergraduate Global STEWARDS. His future career and research focus on sustainable agriculture, addressing global challenges in food, water, and energy utilization. He plans to pursue a Master's and PhD in the future.
Godwin Mkama is a third year undergraduate student from Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST), Tanzania, majoring in Agribusiness Management and Technology. He plans to pursue a Masters and PhD after completing BS studies. The opportunity to participate in the UMD Global STEWARDS undergraduate program will help him to advance his career in fields related to the FEW nexus, sustainable agriculture, and agrivoltaic technologies.
